“A consistent exploration of a rough sonic world.” — ImproSpot
Ada Rave is an Argentine saxophonist, improviser, and composer based in Amsterdam.
Her work is rooted in free improvisation and explores the physicality of sound through breath, extended techniques, attentive listening, and collective interaction. Her music unfolds through shifting textures, fractured gestures, dense sonic accumulations, and moments of radical openness. Rather than seeking fixed forms, her practice embraces improvisation as a way of relating to the unknown.
Described by critics as possessing a distinctive and highly personal voice, she has performed extensively throughout Europe, Latin America, and the United States. Rave’s practice spans solo performance, collaborative improvisation, and large ensemble contexts. She performs regularly with musicians including Susana Santos Silva, Kaja Draksler, Marta Warelis, Sofia Borges, Onno Govaert, Thomas Lehn, Michael Moore, Wilbert De Joode, Ziv Taubenfeld, Ab Baars, Christian Lillinger and Luis Lopes, among others.
She founded and organized the Impro Jam at De Ruimte in Amsterdam from 2015 to 2024 and is a member of the DOEK collective. Alongside her artistic practice, she is active as an educator and curator, and maintains an open and collaborative approach to music-making across a wide range of settings.
